What Students Will Do

The program was created to provide a creative and fun learning environment for teens to learn how to play their favorite genre of music in a group setting. Students will learn the beginning stages of forming a band, naming their band and developing their band’s logo and identity. They will also select and learn cover songs and write original songs. They will then reap the rewards of their band's efforts by playing in a concert.

The program will register students by age and playing level as well as their preference in genre type. Enrollment will require a commitment of finishing the 6 week long term.

What Happens in Rehearsals

After the students learn all the facets of being in a band. They will learn practical tools that will be covered at each rehearsal such as the intricacies of stage presence, basic music theory, understanding their instrument, vocals and harmonies. The rehearsals are led by teaching professionals who are experienced and currently working in local bands.

About the Concert

The finale of each term is a concert in the JamStage Thearte. The concert will be promoted just like any other show for a band. A videographer will be onsite to chronicle the entire event. Students who made it through the sometimes strenuous rehearsing process will experience the rush and reward of performing onstage in front of a live audience!

What the Requirements Are for Registering

Musicians from beginner and up are encouraged to register. Drummers who can keep a beat on drums, keyboardists who can play simple songs, and guitarists who can play barre chords on guitar will easily fit into our program. The program is open to teens from ages 14 to 18. Opportunities are available for adult bands too!(contact us!)

Saturday Rock School

Is your teen ready to rock out? The On-Stage Jams Saturday Rock School program is where teens learn how to work together in a real band. We place teens together in a band and then teach them how to learn cover songs, write their own songs, and rehearse. Genres include, but are not limited to, the following:

Rock, Metal, Pop, Punk, Funk, Hip Hop, Classic Rock, Bluegrass/Americana, Reggae, Jazz, Metallica and Worship.

Each band will also get to perform in a concert held at our performance venue, The JamStage Theatre.

Mission

The mission of The On-Stage Jams Rock School program is to prepare each student to start or successfully continue his or her own band. This is accomplished by providing students the opportunity to become part of a band, guided by experienced musicians, to learn all facets of beginning, polishing and marketing a band.
