| The Rock n Blues Summer Camp |
Each
camp session begins on a Monday. Campers are grouped into bands, based
upon skill level, age, the wishes of friends to play together, and the
type of music each person enjoys. The faculty helps the bands choose
the music - usually three to four songs - they wish to perform on
Friday.
The days are
set up for practice, with faculty rotating between the various bands.
Campers needing extra individual time are helped in a separate room by
one of the faculty. By Monday afternoon jams begin, where bands
get up and play what they have been working on. This has become one of
the most popular features of the camp sessions.
Our
faculty are music professionals with years of experience in music who
love music, sharing their experiences (war stories) and skills with
others!
During the week, classes in guitar, drum and amp
maintenance are given by professionals from the Providence area. In
addition, as camp is held at JamStage - a professional band practice
facility - campers often are treated to short performances by notable
local and national bands who are rehearsing there.
The
undisputed highlight of the On-Stage Jams Rock n Blues Camp is the
Friday evening concert. Each concert has been memorable, and the
enthusiasm and excitement from the audience always surprises and
delights the bands, who play an inspired program, often dressed in very
creative ways!

Why is our camp different?
Some camps focus on the attitude of Rock n Roll. The cloths, the presentation and show. Some camps focus on just the music. They spend all their time making sure every note is perfect. At On-Stage Jams we focus on both. We know music is an attitude but we also know it has to sound right... What a concept!
